Spring 2024: Themes in Islamic Intellectual History


This course will cover select themes in Islamic Intellectual History by drawing on a variety of genres such as Quranic exegesis, Islamic law, philosophy, theology, hadith compilations, and historical chronicles. A synthetic approach is adopted, combining elements of traditional devotional reading with secular academic analysis.

Prerequisites: Prior study of the foundations for an Islamic worldview, whether through secular academic study or devotional Islamic education.

Duration: This course will continue for 10 consecutive sessions (approx. 60 mins each) at the same time and day of the week, unless otherwise specified during the course of the semester.

Location: Virtually via Zoom.

Tuition/fees: This course is being offered pro bono publico (for the public good). There is only a registration fee for the first session to encourage student commitment and sustain similar initiatives in the future. See booking page below for details.
